The Toyota X-Van Gear premiered a few booths away from the primary Toyota brand exhibit showcasing electric concepts at the Japan Mobility Show 2023, an event many still refer to as the Tokyo Motor Show.

Featuring six seatbelts, passengers can be arranged evenly across the rows in a 2-2-2 configuration or in a school bus style with a 1-3-2 layout. The front passenger seat offers versatility by facing forward and being positioned in either the front or second row, with the option to swivel it around. The two-person middle bench seat can fold to create a table, although it seems more suited for two children. The blue leatherette seat bottom cushions are easily cleanable.
At the same time, the lighter textile seatback facing material can be zipped off for washing—an ingenious concept, assuming the material is laundry-friendly.
Beneath the third-row seat lies a drawer that can be opened forward for third-row occupants' access or rearward when loading the van from the rear hatch.
Conditioned air is distributed from the bluish-grey hoop encircling the front and rear edges, extending from above each third-row armrest up and around the van's ceiling. This hoop also cools beverage containers behind the orange elastic at its edges.
The central slot within the hoop accommodates 12-volt power, enabling the connection of accessories such as lights (depicted as three square items), chargers, GoPros, and more.
Two small parabolic mirrors are mounted in the upper left corner of the windshield and the top of the "bonus window," providing the right-side driver with a distorted view of the ground in front of the front wheels or near the left front tire. Additionally, a second electrified track runs just aft of the top of the windshield, serving as a platform for attaching lights, cameras, or similar electrified products.
